Dr. Sue Bowles is an esteemed Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) prepared at doctoral level. With more than 35 years of experience in nursing, perinatal, and neonatal care, Sue is now retired from working in direct patient care and shares her expertise as a Nurse Consultant.

As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Sue is deeply committed to developmental family-centered care and evidence-based practices.

After decades of experience in patient care management, Sue continues to help educate peers and families with expert-led presentations and resources, sharing her knowledge on neonatal care practices and advice.

Sue plays a crucial role in helping WaterWipes deliver factual and unbiased advice on babies and neonatal care, while also serving on various community and institutional healthcare committees.

The road to becoming an expert

Dr. Sue Bowles’s distinguished career as an educator began with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education at Springfield College, Massachusetts. She then secured a Nursing degree at St. Louis University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing at Old Dominion University, Virginia.

Later, she pursued a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of San Diego. Sue has published several publications on neonatal best practices and education and has collaborated on several clinical posters.

In recognition of her position as an expert in her specialism, Dr. Sue Bowles acquired the Developmental Care Specialist Designation from the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

Sue’s remarkable career – the story so far

From starting as a staff nurse to becoming a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Dr. Sue Bowles has emerged as a leading figure in perinatal, neonatal, and family-centred care. As a certified High-Risk Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse, Sue is consulted as an expert in her field by colleagues across the US.

Before becoming a part-time Nurse Consultant at Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, she also spent a year as a Clinical Educator at the Hospice of St Francis.

An advocate for evidence-based practices, Sue is passionate about the development and delivery of educational programs and policies. Throughout her work, from direct patient care to specialist consulting, Sue aspires to help facilitate the best possible care for premature babies and their families in the NICU.

Today, she continues to pass on her knowledge at national conferences, institutional committees, and expert-led webinars with WaterWipes.
